It’s not often that a UK female voiceover artist can also sing. But I actually began performing as a session and jingle singer before I started my voiceover career.
I’m one of the few British female voice overs who used to race up and down the UK to voice more than 20 radio commercials in a single session.
Some of those adverts might have involved purely sung jingles. Others might have had a voiceover introduction with a jingle tagline at the end.
During my career as a jingle singer, I have performed many roles, often using different accents. So if you need me to sing as one of my characters, I can.
In my spare time, I also perform in a vocal harmony trio.
We’ve even played the world-famous Glastonbury Festival. So even when I’m not working on voice-overs in my booth, I’m still working my voice.
Because I am a musician, I can quickly and easily transpose a note or two, to change your jingle. I can also provide my own harmonies. It’s a unique skill that I also employ in my one-to-one and group voiceover coaching sessions.
I’ve even been known to rap (albeit in a splendid middle class English accent), as well as voice what you might call musical poetry, as in the ‘Spoken Ambient’ piece written by Jon Aldersea.
